How long does a lubricant remain food grade?
Every lubricant, machine and operating condition presents a unique set of circumstances for the formation of degradation products and ingress of contaminants. Nevertheless, our tests on Shell Cassida products found no evidence of a build up of trace substances belonging to a known group of toxic chemicals, even in a heavily degraded oil sample. It is difficult to be certain that ‘used’ Shell Cassida is still ‘safe’ in view of the complexity of the science involved.
