How long do the stem cells last for in cryogenic storage?
Medical and veterinary science has used cryogenic storage methods for decades to successfully store cells from humans and mammals. There is no reason we know of why cord blood stem cells should not be successfully stored for at least this long. In the 20 years that we have had this technology, scientists have shown that cord blood stem cells have remained viable. We expect they will be able to be successfully stored for much longer. The initial Biocell contract is for 18 years to cover the period before your child becomes an adult. After the age of 18. he/she can make their own decisions regarding the storage of their stem cells.
