How long do the benefits of Rolfing last?
The changes produced during Rolfing are ideally both self-reinforcing and progressive. As the structure and its movement patterns have shifted, they will in turn create further changes in the structure over time. These continued changes can take up to six months to beyond the last Rolfing session to be fully realized. Although Rolfing is designed to change structure over the long term, it is sometimes advisable to schedule an occasional “tune-up” session to address any regressions. The body awareness gained during Rolfing is a valuable tool in extending the longevity of its results. Certain exercises or explorations may help in furthering this awareness, and practices such as yoga or tai chi are valuable tools as well.
