How long do the batteries last?
High energy batteries last at least 1000 measurements or one year. The internal clock uses power irrespective of the number of measurements, even when Accu-Chek Compact Plus meter is switched off. The number of measurements may be reduced when the measurement frequency is extremely low (1 measurement per week) and the meter is left unused. The number of measurements may be improved where the measurement frequency is high.

Batteries have a limited cycle number. The lead acid batteries generally have 400 cycles down to 20% SOC. Depending on the battery configuration and the driving conditions, the batteries will last from 1 to 3 years. There are several things which effect the battery life: Deep discharge (running the batteries flat). If the batteries are run into deep discharge, their life is dramatically reduced (up to 1/3 of life can be lost). The DesignLine HEV bus is fitted with several safety features which prevent deep discharging from occurring. High power discharge: High power discharging of the batteries, as done during repeated hard acceleration, diminishes the service life of the battery much faster. The DesignLine HEV has a driver notification alarm that indicates to the driver that he is using excessive power. While the HEV bus can deliver this power quite easily, it will impact battery life.
