How long do I have to stay at work today to make it count?
If you have personal/sick time to leave then take it. As long as you have time to cover it, you’re fine. If you don’t have any sick time/personal time then you’re going to have to stick it out until work is over. They have no obligation to let you off work early for slick road conditions, UNLESS there is a state of emergency issued. And I doubt one has been issued because the weather would have to get really bad. Worse than it is now.
It is not necessary that you have to stay longer, but as you have said that hardly anyone has showed up. Call your superior and ask his advice telling him about the situation and hardly anyone showed up. Leave it to him to decide how long you should wait, It is but natural that seeing the situation he will tell you to leave and your purpose will be served.
