How long do I have to pay child support?

Generally, the duty to pay child support extends until the child reaches the age of majority, or age 18. However, if the child is unmarried and a full-time high school student, then support extends until that child completes high school or turns 19.

In general you pay child support until 18 although if the child is in school and will graduate high school by their 19th birthday, then child support will continue until then.

Uncertain as to how the States operates it’s child support. But I live to the north of you in Canada and here we pay until child is either 18 years old and out of school and/or until completed their post secondary education which can last until sometimes in their mid 20’s. I would suggest that you take a good long look at your papers and see how it reads. If not spelled out there then you may want to speak with a family lawyer to find out when your responsibility ends. Best of luck.

In some states you can pay child support up to 21. I think as long as the child is a full time student and still a dependent to the parents.

If it’s not written in your divorce you can go to the judge and make a request for child support to stop. The judge will do it or not.
