How long do dealers have before they have to purchase a new Dealer Plate?
A. The Ministry has set a 26-month transition period, beginning on December 1, 2004 and ending on February 1, 2007, to allow dealers to exchange their existing yellow plates for new dealer plates. However, both the UCDA and the Ministry recommend that dealers return their existing Dealer Plates and purchase new Dealer Plates sooner rather than later, so there will be no doubt in the eyes of police officers when dealers use the Plate, that it is not being used as a Service Plate.
