You typically want to give a reptile 12 hours with lights and 12 hours without. It is the same with juveniles. If you want your dragon to experience more natural hours of light, make it 14 hours of sunlight during the summer months and 10 hours of sunlight during winter. Your beardie may be trying to fall asleep, but when he can sense your presence, he alerts himself and opens his eyes.
