How long did it take for the internet to develop?
The internet was originally ARPANET. It was commissioned by the US Department of Defense in 1969 (starting with only 4 computers linked together) and continued to grow throughout the 70s. By the 1980s independent service providers were continuing to multiply, and the Internet Activities Board was founded in 1983. The Internet developed as a visual medium when the first graphical browsers became available. In 1989 Tim Berners-Lee proposed a web browser that would display webpages consistently across all computers. With the addition of standardized display formats, the World Wide Web (WWW) came into its own from the mid-1990s. Soooo roughly it took about 30years.
