How long can you stay in america with an american tourist visa?
If you enter the US on a B2 visa your normal admission at most Ports of entry will be for 6 months. In most Ports if there is a good reason an officer can admit you for up to a year without a supervisors ok. A good reason is that you are here for medical treatment or caring for a sick relative (Bring doctors letter) A good reason is not you want to help your sister take care of her newborn. If you have a legit reason then bring documents to show to the officer to back up your request. Don`t even waste your time asking if you have just left the country from another 6 month visit or you will be wasting your breath and possibly shortening this trip. We can very easily see your travel history and lenths of stay in the country so do not lie to the officer about how long or how many times you have been here in the past. If the officer declines your request you are still free to try your luck with CIS while here and ask for an extension. They are pretty easy and seem to grant the extension if
