How long can the high protein specialty feeds, made from fish and/or animal protein be safely stored?
I’ll answer to the best of my ability for the ones I use, as I’ve spoken with the manufacturers rep on the subject. In the case of the Mazuri Waterfowl Starter and Mazuri Seaduck Diets, containing fishmeal, they should be perfectly alright for at least 6 months from the manufacturing date on the bag. They are probably safe to use for an even longer time, however since the fats can begin to turn rancid it may affect their taste, and may put some of the rarer and more finicky species off their feed.
