How long can sod be left on a pallet after cutting?
How long you can leave sod on a pallet depends on the time of year. During the summer months, when it is extremely hot, you want to lay sod within a day. This is why it is best to buy from a local sod farm where “we” cut it fresh to order. In the winter it can wait a couple of days, but the sooner it is laid the better. A few tips to keeping sod….place pallets in shade if you cannot lay them right away. Never put water on the pallets, this will cause the sod to attract heat more and burn the sod, killing it almost instantly.
