How long can one expect a timber frame home to last?
Remember that timber frames have been around for centuries and there are many examples of houses going back to the 12th Century. These structures did not have the benefit of pressure-impregnated timbers, galvanised fixings, DPC’s, plastic vapour barriers, etc. like we do today. Therefore, given that a good standard of work is achieved, there is no reason why the life span of a timber-framed structure should be any less than that of masonry or steel framed equivalents.
