How long can i claim income support for?
i am a single parent too and can tell you that you will be able to claim indefinitely. You will have to attend work based interviews every 6 months for a review of your case. If you wish to earn a little extra you can earn £20 per week without it coming off your Income Support. You can also attend college if you wish some courses allow you to work part-time on a course while still claiming Income Support and colleges can help out with childcare. I found this a healthy relief from parenting!! Don’t listen to the people leaving negative thoughts on this! Income Support is there for people like me and you and they obviously haven’t had the need to use it but unfortunately many do and we would end up a third world country without it.
