How long can flax be stored?

0

Because whole flax seeds have a naturally hard hull, if properly cleaned, they will keep indefinitely. Storage should be at room temperature and out of the sunlight. Our seeds go through a 4-stage cleaning process. This means that there should be no broken seeds which could go rancid after a certain period of time. Ground flax seeds require more care in handling. Once ground, they should be keep in an opaque container, in the refrigerator or freezer and be used within a reasonable period of time. Rule of thumb: If they smell and taste okay, then they are okay to ingest.
