How long can equipment that is type approved on the basis of the old regime be placed on the market?
Equipment type approved according to the old regime can be placed on the EU market until 8 April 2001. The old regime can be applied until 8 April 2000, so the manufacturer has to have the equipment type approved, etc. before 8 April 2000. Between 8 April 2000 and 7 April 2001 the manufacturer can get rid of his stock. After 7 April 2001 the manufacturer can only place equipment on the market under the provisions of the R&TTE Directive.
