How long can butterflies live?
To complete the whole life cycle, butterflies mostly live about one and a half month. The average of each period of butterflies’ life cycle is as follows: Egg 4-5 days Pupa 7 -10 days Caterpillar 15-20 days Adult 14-15 days The larger butterflies will normally have a longer life cycle such as “The Golden Birdwing” or Troides aeacus thomsoni (Bates), which takes about 2 months to complete its life cycle.
