Depends on the type and what organs it is affecting. You can live for 30 years or more if it goes into remission. This can even happen spontaneously, without treatment. Prostate cancer, for example, can be present for decades without needing treatment, sometimes.

It’s been my experience that people I know who’ve had it usually live a bit less than a year after diagnosis, but I’m sure some people are diagnosed late and go sooner and others make it longer depending on other health issues.
