How long can a folder name be in Gmail or Google Apps?
The way Google count the maximum folder name length is a bit different than most other email providers. Instead of restraining the folder length on each level (eg. “Inbox/foobar” would be counted as two folders), Google counts them as one and the maximum length is 40 characters. Unless you use very long folder names or have many levels of nested folders (which is more often the case), this should not be a problem. If you do however reach the limit, the way YippieMove deals with this is to cut off the folder name at 40 characters. Keep in mind that you can manually change the folder names (and even re-map and merge) in Step 3.
