The more oxygen dissolved in the water, the more they can digest. That is why in commercial “dense culture”; pure oxigen systems are used. In a system designed to provide all the oxygen the fish could ever want, and adjusting the other variables accordingly (filtering, etc.) Tilapia has been grown from birth to 2 pounds in about 8 months.
