How long before my lungs are clear?
36 years .. you are incredibly unrealistic to expect that there has not been some damage to your lungs … the high probability is that they will never be pink again … although CONGRATULATIONS on quitting … This is a complex subject because genetics allow some people to weather the carcinogens better than others … there is no way for anyone to predict what your lungs will look like … but pink is healthy lungs … and based on your smoking history … your lungs have taken a beating … alveolar and supporting structure damage is permanent …. and one would suspect that they have changes due to all the tar, nicotine, and other carcinogens that you have inhaled … The upside to it is that you feel better … which is fantastic ….
