how long Bat Mitzvah SERVICES last on a Sunday?
I am going to a Bat Mitzvah tomorrow and I just want to attend the services after. Thanks. A: OK- this may come as a surprise to some- Bat Mitzvahs on Sunday are COMMON! what you find in many communities is that they have a group pf girls do a combined ceremony on a Sunday- with them all having seperate parties/celebrations afterwards. Its the way it is commonly done here in South Africa in the Orthodox community- since the community follows mainly yekke and Litvak customs I’m not sure where this idea originates from. (The groups are generally based on a group from the same year in one of the Jewish day schools, or all going to the same synagogue). They do NOT read from the Torah- but generally a theme is chosen for the Bat Mitzvah and each girl will give a drosha on it based on Tehillim (Psalms) or something similar. These ceremonies are usually within the Modern orthodox community- the Chareidi and Chassidic communities do not do Bat Mitzvah celebrations at all due to the issues of K
