How long are Mormon garments?
About to the knee, yes, or at least a little above. The tops are pretty much in the shape of regular T-shirts (though they do come in different styles), and the bottoms are like longer boxers. They’re actually not uncomfortable at all and come in many different materials, most of which are designed for hot weather. I actually like wearing them when it’s hot, because the material keeps me cool and actually keeps the sweat from coming through on my shirts. Skirts would have to at least touch the knee when you’re standing, I think, to cover the garments while sitting. You can’t wear super short skirts, but most of the ones I have are medium length and not too long (I don’t look right in long skirts). Still, for us, it’s not about eliminating sweat stains or keeping women from wearing mini-skirts. They’re supposed to be reminders of promises we have made with God, and we cherish them for that reason. If you ever were to convert and had gone through the temple, you wouldn’t have a problem w
To the knee, sometimes they scoot up a little, but the way they normally lay down is to a little above the knee. If you were to wear garments you wouldn’t be able to wear skirts or shorts above the knee. The tops are modest as well, they have a capped sleeve(or maybe a little longer than capped sleeve), and the neck line is high enough to cover cleavage. There are many different styles and different fabrics to choose from, but they all cover the same amount of skin. People in hotter places usually wear garments made with fabrics that are more breathable and keep you cooler. I don’t think theres any pictures online (and if there are some online they shouldn’t be there). But if you did join the church and decided to go through the temple, you’d be shown drawings of the different styles when you shopped for your garments. For me garments are comfortable, and I am grateful that I was able to make those covenants in the temple, and I feel great that I have the privilege of wearing garments
Yes, that picture you’ve seen online is horrible isn’t it? The man and the woman are wearing garments which are several sizes too big, and tucked in! It’s like they are trying to make them look outrageously stupid, because actually they look fine. They are available in different lengths. The mid-calf are good for under trousers, but the shortest length are kind-of mid thigh, and that’s probably just on me because I’m tall. They are available in lots of fabrics for all different climates. I like thermal because it’s cold here, and they are far cheaper to buy than regular thermal underwear. I also love the carinessa fabric – 8% lycra which is more than most swimsuits, so really comfortable and no VPL! You wouldn’t be able to wear a short skirt or short shorts, but that’s kind-of the point. Those clothes are too revealing and immodest and can make men think about stuff we don’t want them to think about. Certain bits of me are for my husband’s eyes – and imagination – only. If my garments
