How long are females pregnant, and how long is it after they give birth before they breed again?
Pregnancies in the alpaca run between about 325 and 360 days, with the average at about 345 days. Single births are the rule with alpacas. Pregnancy terms are usually very consistent for an individual animal from year to year. Alpacas are ready to breed again about 3 weeks after delivery. As a result, a breeding female generally has one cria every year of her breeding life.
