How long are ewes pregnant before they lamb?
About 145-149 days, depending on the breed, with more primitive breeds tending towards shorter gestation times. Some breeders use breeding crayons set in a harness on the ram. Then they look at the ewes’ rear ends each day to determine just what day she was bred on. We don’t bother with that, but it works well for people who need to be very certain when lambing will begin.
