How long after taking castor oil would labor start?
Don’t take ANY! The only thing that taking the castor oil will do is make you have lots of loose bowel movements. If labor starts while this is happening, it is an unfortunate coincidence. I say unfortunate because you will have miserable stomach cramps along with the painful uterine cramps. Ask any woman who has had diarrhea during labor…it’s not pretty. The castor oil could also cause your fetus to pass its first bowel movement (meconium) in utero. The meconium could be aspirated into the baby’s lungs at birth. While this usually does not cause lasting damage, why risk it? A baby will only come when it is ready.
