How likely is vinyl acetate to cause cancer?
The International Agency for Research on Cancer has determined that vinyl acetate is not classifiable as to its carcinogenicity to humans. There are no human studies on the carcinogenicity of vinyl acetate. Animal studies have shown mixed results; one study showed an increase in tumors of the noses of rats who breathed vinyl acetate, while another study did not show an increase in tumors in rats who drank water containing the chemical.
