The University of Utah Hospitals & Clinics incident response team met with representatives from the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office as well as the FBI and U.S. Postal Service. Law enforcement reported that the theft was probably a random car burglary. Based on how the car was broken into, the theft didn’t appear to be the work of sophisticated criminals.
