It requires one on one training with someone that really know how to use them. If you simply want to learn to swing the nunchaku around thast is another matter. Being proficient with the nunchaku is knowing all three ways it is used. Only 1/3 of the training is in twirling them around like you often see. 1/3 involves using them as if they were a short club or stick(held together in one hand). The final 1/3 of the art involves many different ways to trap and lock, choke or throw the attacker. Finally, consider this. Most people are so busy learning how to look impressive twirling the nunchaku that they get a big shock the first time they really hit something.
