How large will a pictus catfish get and what fish can be put with him?
Pictus catfish usually range in size from 4-6″. Mine is currently 4.5″ and I have him in with a school of juvenile angelfish, one Raphael catfish and one clown pleco. They all share the large pieces of driftwood I have in my tank and he comes out now and then. I previously kept him in my 55g tank with three juvenile blood parrots and one severum, and even though the stupid woman at PetSmart wouldn’t let me buy him at first, I soon proved her wrong that cichlids can be kept with pictus catfish! Don’t keep any fish that would likely be eaten such as guppy fry, neon tetras, etc. Some choices would be larger tetras, livebearers and other medium sized schooling fish. Of course that all depends on the size of your tank.
