How large is the substation on the site?
The project’s substation will be adjacent to the existing utility substation. The total area occupied by the project’s substation will be less than an acre. Electrically, the new substation will contain equipment to allow for the project to connect to the existing 138kV utility substation. There are no structures planned for the substation and most of the equipment is self-enclosed, mostly physically similar in appearance to typical electrical equipment found outside residential subdivisions. Most of the area of the new substation will have gravel and will not be paved. The new substation will be minimal in size compared to the Double Tollgate substation. The Double Tollgate station is sized to handle hundreds of megawatts flowing through it.
