How is XpresSmile different from dentist take home trays?
A. Dental take home trays use a lower concentration of bleach (hydrogen peroxide) in a different formula called Carbamide Peroxide which is better suited for home whitening because it is a more stable form of hydrogen peroxide. Carbamide requires 20-30 minutes to begin the oxidation process and releases only 50% of its active ingredient in the first 2 hours and the rest over the next 4-6 hours. This is why the trays must be worn for several hours each day. With LED whitening, the teeth are exposed to a higher gel concentration for a much shorter amount of time enabling the customer to whiten their teeth in less than an hour and with less impact to the enamel.
