How is work conducted between students and faculty during the rest of the year, outside of the 12-day summer residencies?
The summer residency technically begins in mid-May via UAA’s online course management system, Blackboard. MFA students exchange work and critical comments through this distance-delivery method before arriving on-campus in July for the 12-day summer residency. Each fall and spring semester, MFA students and their faculty mentors develop a written work plan which outlines the submission schedule, reading assignments, specific semester goals, expectations, etc.
