How is WiserEarth funded?
The site does not make money. Everything is free– including job postings, events, calendars, and all other features. The site is currently supported by foundations grants. When fully up and running, we expect that it will be supported by both foundations and its users. WiserEarth will not require extensive funding once built. Content is user-generated, requiring few staff after public launch. Once up, the majority of the expenses will be electricity, ensuring security, maintenance, and server costs, but these expenses will be small compared to the number of users.
