How is Windows Azure Connect different from the Windows Azure AppFabric Service Bus?
Windows Azure Connect and Windows Azure AppFabric Service Bus are complementary technologies. Windows Azure Connect provides IP-based network connectivity between on-premises and Windows Azure resources. Windows Azure Connect enables cloud-hosted virtual machines and on-premises resources to communicate as if they were on the same network. The Windows Azure AppFabric Service Bus provides application-level federation and connectivity for HTTP-based services using claims-based access control. Based upon their requirements, customers can choose the technology that is most appropriate for their needs. Service Bus offers “cloud presence” for enterprise services, both for internal use as well as partner use outside of the corporate network. It does this via a relay infrastructure that does not require opening up inbound ports allowing for secure and seamless NAT and firewall traversal.
