How is United Way of Hunterdon County connected to United Way of America (UWA)?
Across the country there are over 1,350 local United Ways. Each of them, like United Way of Hunterdon County, is separately incorporated and is independently governed by a local board of community leaders and volunteers. The money raised in Hunterdon County stays here, supporting local health and human service programs and initiatives throughout the community. United Way of America is the national service and training center which supports local United Ways with a national advertising and promotion program, a partnership with the National Football League, training for United Way professionals and volunteers and a national network allowing United Ways to share best practices and other information. Local United Ways pay for these services through annual dues. United Way of America does not raise or distribute funds.
