How is tumbled stone made?
Just like you’d think – in a tumbler! Pieces of stone are cut to the size needed and then tumbled in a large drum with sand or other abrasives to achieve the desired texture. Large pieces and moldings may be “tumbled” by placing them in a sand slurry on a vibrating table which creates the same effect as tumbling.
