How is Treatment Paid for?
Within the NHS, orthodontic care for children under 18 can be provided free if the need for treatment is great enough. Minor problems are excluded however. It is not always easy to find an NHS orthodontist in some areas particularly since limitations have been placed on availability of NHS funding and increasingly patients are opting for private treatment. Private treatment can offer a wider choice of braces, including clear brackets or invisible braces, and more convenient appointment times. Costs for private treatment vary according to the part of the country but are likely to be in the range of £1800 to £4,500, depending on the locality, the age of the patient and the extent of treatment required.
The State of Utah has devised a unique formula to pay for drug court treatment. In this formula, for every dollar spent on drug courts, 87 cents will go towards treatment and 13 cents will cover court costs. This ratio allows for lower costs to the participant who may pay anywhere from zero to a maximum of forty dollars a week for treatment.
Within the NHS, orthodontic treatment for children under 18 is free provided that the treatment is necessary. If the condition does not qualify for treatment under the NHS or the adult has passed their eighteenth birthday then all treatment will be provided on a private fee basis and Mr Parker will be pleased to discuss this with you. Opting for private treatment will allow the use of a wider choice of brace, including clear brackets and greater freedom to select appointments times. Costs for private treatment will reflect the age of the patient and the extent of treatment required but typically a normal course of treatment would cost between £2400 and £3600. Simple treatments start at around £1200 and a complex treatment will cost about £5000. Some special techniques, however, can cost a lot more.
