How is the YWCA Aurora organized?
• • The YWCA Aurora is a 501.C.3, not-for-profit Illinois corporation and social service agency governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. The YWCA Aurora is also a member of the YWCA USA and the World YWCA. The YWCA Aurora is supported through membership, fees for services, various funding sources and generous contributions from individuals and corporations. • The YWCA Aurora was founded in 1893 and became a charter member of the YWCA of the U.S.A. in 1906. The YWCA Aurora built its first facility at 31 West Downer Place in 1911, and moved into its current facility at 201 North River Street in 1985. It added its Fitness Center and Lydia and Malcolm Jones Child Care Center in early 1992 and 1997 respectively.
