How is the weather like in Vieques?
The rain season in Vieques does not seem to have a clear definition. There is no agreement about the start point if any. Donald M. Street, Jr. in his book, Puerto Rico, the Passage Islands, the U.S. and British Virgin Islands, 1995 says “The rainy season is the same as the hurricane season-roughly July to October…even then, it very seldom rains day after day but rather a maximum of three hours a day. The rest of the day is sunny. However, at times the rainy and dry seasons reverse themselves, confusing everyone.” Then there is the dry season, which according to Dr. Juan Amdee Bonnet Bentez in Vieques en la Historia de Puerto Rico, 1977, is from December to April. Another source is the National Climatic Data Center and the U.S. Geological Survey. Data from these sources was used by the U.S. Department of Health in February 2001 to report: “Vieques climate is tropical-marine with temperatures that average about 79 degrees Fahrenheit. Annually, the temperature ranges from an average of
