How is the water temperature affected by adding salt or sugar?

0

It depends on the temperature of the salt and or sugar as well as the temperature of the water. Lets assume they’re of the same temperature, then nothing happens. There has to be a temperature difference for heat exchange to take place. If the water is colder, then it will heat up. If the water is hotter than the salt/sugar, then it will cool down. Let me answer another question that I think you might trying to ask. If you add room temperature salt to BOILIING water, then the temperature will drop at first but it affects the boiling point. Adding salt to water raises the BOILING point of water. Sugar will do the same, but the effect is considerably less.
