How is the waste transported?
Waste is transported to the SITA-MediCollect site in colour specific collectors that have been specially designed to carry the different waste classifications. Each container is labelled clearly to ensure only those specific types of waste are disposed of correctly. These collectors are transported to site in licenced commercial vehicles and tracked by the ‘Controlled Waste tracking System’ managed by the Department of Environment and Conservation. The vehicles are marked as carrying Biohazard Waste and are driven by appropriately trained personnel. Records are kept of all waste entering and treated at site at all times. A licenced commercial waste management disposal company collects the treated waste from SITA-MediCollect.
