To calculate the mean and standard deviation of overpayments in the sample, the sampling units from the Probe or Discovery Sample should be reviewed and a dollar difference determination should be made on each sampling unit (i.e., the difference between what was reimbursed and what should have been reimbursed based on the reviewer’s determination). The mean and standard deviation of the overpayment amount in the Probe or Discovery Sample is used to determine the Full Sample size.
