How is the used car business for Hyundai and Subaru?
Well, for Subaru the used car business is great. It has a strong certified program. But the Cash for Clunkers has dried up the used car market. Used Subarus and Hyundais are pretty hard to find right now. Where do you find them? We use the online auctions a lot and go to the factory auctions. I also buy the ones whose leases are coming to an end. We send out post cards to all of the dealerships in the area to let them know we are buyers. If they take one in a trade, well buy it from them. But we do keep our inventory lean because we dont have the room to house 100 used vehicles yet. Hyundai recently started a certified plan. How is that going? Its starting to roll. I think they are still trying to catch up to the new car business right now but they know the certified pre-owned arena is a gigantic industry too.
