How is the Trust different from other preservation groups?
The Trust is different in several ways, most notably the approach of creating an endowment for the ship, not simply trying to raise money for a purchase that can then only be sustained through fundraising that should be used for renovation. Our focus is on the present: the need for an immediate rescue through purchase – not on the decades old question of what to do with this historic treasure (which seems to us like asking what to do with the Statue of Liberty, the Liberty Bell or countless historic buildings and structures throughout the country).
