How is the Truman Service Initiative related to the Truman National Security Project Educational Institute?
The Truman Service Initiative is an initiative of the Truman National Security Project Educational Institute. It is intended to reconnect future American leaders at top universities with peers in our nation’s military. Through student-directed educational events and activities, the Truman Service Initiative aims to bridge the chasm that has grown over the past forty years between civilian leaders and their military peers, providing young people who may be our nation’s future civilian leaders with a path to learn about the nation’s military and form relationships with those who have served. By bridging this gap, we intend to help future civilian leaders better understand the institution of the military, its strengths, weaknesses, and culture, in order to improve our nation’s foreign policy and strengthen our democracy. The Truman Service Initiative is managed by National College Directors Kelly (kelly@trumanproject.org), Kate (kate@trumanproject.org), and Courtney (courtney@trumanprojec
