How is the Skilled Occupation List structured?
The Skilled Occupation List lists occupations alphabetically in accordance with their title in the Australian Standard Classification of Occupations (ASCO) dictionary for each of the major group headings of: • managers and administrators • professionals • associate professionals • tradespersons and related workers For each occupation, the list shows: • the Australian Standard Classification of Occupations number for the occupation • the relevant assessing authority for the occupation • the number of points for skill an occupation is awarded for the “skill” factor under the points test Further information on the Australian Standard Classification of Occupations dictionary can be found on the Australian Bureau of Statistics web site, under the section titled ‘ABS papers and classifications’.
