How is the secrecy of my vote maintained in a mail ballot election?
Ballots are processed in an assembly line method so that by the time the ballot is unfolded for counting, all identifying information has been removed. At least four people are involved in the process: one person opens the envelope, one removes the folded ballot from the envelope, one removes the ballot stub from the still-folded ballot, and the last person unfolds the ballot and prepares it for counting.
