How is the school district preparing senior high schools to receive 9th-grade students?
District administrators have been meeting with junior and senior high school principals for many months to discuss this. The schools are aware that registration, scheduling and staffing will need to be adjusted. The schools will have access to needed resources for the registration process. Historically, some of our high schools have been home to ninth-graders. Additionally, the campuses have had much higher enrollments in the past. The district has reviewed the needs of the high school facilities with the addition of 9th-graders. The sites can accommodate more students by adjusting the schedule for more effective use of all classrooms. The district can also transfer existing portable classrooms to the high schools. Transportation routes are adjusted each year to meet the needs of students and school schedules.
