How is the Report of Family Contribution (RFC) determined?
When you submit the Parents’ Financial Statement (PFS), the School Scholarship Service (SSS) processing center will enter your information into a calculation and the result is your Report of Family Contribution (RFC). The RFC is just a guideline to help the Andover Financial Aid Office recalculate your eligibility for support. The RFC is based on an assessment of your family’s income, assets and unusual family circumstances. Andover calculates the family contribution based on national standards for variations in size of family; number of children in tuition charging institutions; cost of living; a sliding scale for home equity for home values above $650,000; and a host of unusual family circumstances, including: child support, nursing home or assisted living support for elderly family members, natural disasters, serious illness and loss of employment.
